Chemical Fiprex M for dogs weighing 10 to 20 kg is a spot-on antiparasitic solution for veterinary use. The pipette contains 150 mg of fipronil in 2 ml and is sized for this weight range. The contents are applied to the skin between the shoulder blades.

It comes in a single pipette. To administer the correct dose, the dog must be weighed before application.

Which external parasites does it treat?

This medicine is indicated for infestations with adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and the ticks Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Dermacentor reticulatus. It can maintain insecticidal activity against new flea infestations for up to 8 weeks. The acaricidal activity against the indicated species can last up to 4 weeks.

Ticks present at the time of application do not always disappear within the first 48 hours. They may die over the course of the following week.

Full composition

Each 2 ml pipette contains 150 mg of fipronil. Its excipients are butylhydroxytoluene (E 321), 6 mg; butylhydroxyanisole (E 320), 6 mg; povidone; isopropanol; and diethylene glycol monomethyl ether.

How to use the pipette

1. Weigh the dog and check that it weighs between 10 and 20 kg.
2. Remove the tip from the pipette.
3. Part the fur between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.
4. Apply the entire contents to the skin. You can divide the dose between several nearby spots if this prevents it from running off.

Do not allow the dog to lick the area, nor let other pets lick it. Wait at least 4 weeks before reapplying. Avoid bathing or swimming for the following 2 days.

Which dogs is this product intended for?

This formulation is suitable for dogs weighing between 10 and 20 kg. It must not be used on puppies under 2 months old or on animals weighing less than 10 kg. Nor should it be applied to dogs that are ill, convalescing or have skin lesions. It is not suitable for cats or rabbits.

Adverse reactions to watch out for

Changes to the coat, itching, irritation or hair loss may occur at the application site. Ingestion through licking may cause excessive salivation, vomiting, lethargy or hypersensitivity. If you notice these signs or any other reaction, contact your vet.

Safety precautions

Avoid contact of the contents with the eyes, mouth and skin. Wash your hands when finished. Do not allow children to play with the dog until the area is dry. If the animal is pregnant or lactating, consult your vet beforehand.
