What does the Fiprosmet pack for cats and ferrets contain?

This Fiprosmet pack contains 2 boxes of 6 pipettes, with a total of 12 x 0.5 ml pipettes. It is a veterinary medicine for topical application to cats and ferrets.

Each pipette combines fipronil and (S)-methoprene. Fipronil acts against adult parasites. (S)-methoprene prevents the development of flea eggs, larvae and pupae.

What is Fiprosmet used for?

In cats, it is used to eliminate fleas, ticks and chewing lice. Protection against new infestations by adult fleas lasts for 4 weeks. The inhibition of the development of immature flea stages lasts for 6 weeks.

In ferrets, it is indicated for use against fleas and ticks. Its efficacy against new infestations by adult fleas and its activity against ticks last for 4 weeks.

Composition per pipette

Each 0.5 ml pipette contains 50 mg of fipronil and 60 mg of (S)-methoprene.

The excipients are butylhydroxyanisole (E 320), butylhydroxytoluene (E 321), anhydrous ethanol, polysorbate 80, povidone K17 and diethylene glycol monoethyl ether.

How should Fiprosmet be applied?

Use one 0.5 ml pipette per cat or ferret. Part the fur at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible. Place the tip against the skin and dispense the contents directly onto a single spot.

Prevent the animal from licking the area and ensure other animals do not lick it. Do not repeat the application for at least 4 weeks. It is not recommended to bathe the animal for the following 2 days.

For which animals is it intended?

It is intended for cats aged at least 8 weeks and weighing 1 kg, and for ferrets aged 6 months or older. It must not be used on rabbits, sick or convalescent animals, other species, or in cases of hypersensitivity to its components.

In pregnant or lactating ferrets, the vet must first assess the risk-benefit ratio.

Possible side effects

In very rare cases, flaking, hair loss, itching or redness may occur at the application site. Generalised itching, hair loss, excessive salivation, vomiting and reversible neurological signs have also been reported.

If you notice a reaction or if the animal ingests the product, consult your vet.

Precautions for use

Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and mouth. Wash your hands after applying the pipette. Children should not touch the animal until the area is dry.

Do not pour any leftover product down the drain or into watercourses, as its active ingredients may be harmful to aquatic organisms. Read the package leaflet before use.
